Incredible Machines Use Waves to Generate Drawings
Okay, so this video might be in Japanese, but you don't need to understand what they're saying to realise that this is serious cool. The boffins at Japan's National Maritime Research Institute have constructed machines that are basically water pools with wave generators around the edges. The individual generator nodes can then be used to triggers waves that build up and combine to produce precise shapes, such as hearts, stars and letters.
Although that coolness is enough of a reason to make these machines, there must be some practical applications. However, I like the thought on Technabob of using it to create a real-life water creature as seen in The Abyss :)

Little Red Riding Hood In Schematics
Check out this modern take on Little Red Riding Hood by art director and graphic artist Tomas Nilsson. I wish I could come up with stuff like this.
Cycles
I came across this rather psychotic animation of teddy bears at Worthing sea front whilst browsing through Dark Roasted Blend's latest Link Latte. It was created using Adobe After Effects by YouTube user Cyriak. It certainly made my head spin :)
